It has been the bane of every woman’s existence — the unsightly affliction we all know as cellulite. Many women have it in varying degrees, and unfortunately it appears to get worse with age. There are several ways to fight with and get rid of Cellulite. It is not just a problem affecting obese or overweight women. Average size and even thin women suffer from cellulite as well. It has been surveyed that 85% of all women have cellulite somewhere on their bodies. So to get rid of it, the best way is Cellulite-Laser treatment. The word Laser invokes in our mind a thought of a red hot beam burning our skin in an invasive and painful procedure, that also costs us a fortune but only banishes cellulite for a matter of weeks. But Laser treatment can undoubtedly be effective for a temporary fix. However, technology has developed much since the first laser cellulite cures were introduced. The main cause of cellulite is that the skin stem cells become weakened and lie dormant. The skin has the largest reservoir of stem cells in the human body. After the age of 22, your skin stem cells weaken and become sluggish, regenerating at a much slower pace. As skin regeneration slows, our fat cells become engorged and toxins get trapped creating the embarrassing and unsightly “orange peel” effect on the surface of the skin, also known as cellulite, which is easily curable. Some of the benefits of the use of laser in cellulite treatment includes:
1. Tightens and repairs dammed tissues.
2. It betters the blood circulation of the body.
3. Minimal damage without any burning sensation.
4. Flushes out the toxins and improves system in the area.

The brain is a soft, spongy mass of tissue. It is protected by the bones of the skull and three thin membranes called meninges. Watery fluid called cerebrospinal fluid cushions the brain. This fluid flows through spaces between the meninges and through spaces within the brain called ventricles. Now, a Shreveport neurosurgeon has taken brain surgery for the removal of tumors to a whole new level, finding a way to obliterate a tumor, with much less risk. A Louisiana woman was the first patient in the U.S. to have the procedure done.
In this new procedure Shreveport neurosurgeon had to open her skull to remove that tumor. It’s the kind of surgery that leaves a big scar and comes with serious risks and a longer recovery time. But by the time another tumor appeared last fall, Dr. Patwardhan had a new tool to try: a laser probe, and he was looking for a patient willing to be the first. In this procedure, one just had to make a hole that will take to the middle of the tumor, burn the tumor and then the tumor will essentially evaporate. It involves making a small opening and going in and burning it. The other alternative was open operation.
This procedure leaves behind a small pinpoint incision, comparable to that size of the tip of a pencil. In addition to avoiding the risks related to anesthesia, the laser ablation probe is thin and slides through the brain with much less disturbance. It allows the surgeon to reach even deep tumors with far less risk, like the brain swelling that comes with conventional procedures.
Karen Mowad was able to stay awake through the procedure, and felt no significant discomfort. Since Mowad became the first patient in North America to undergo the procedure, several others have followed. For now, Dr. Patwardhan says they’re reserving the laser treatment for brain tumors as a last resort, as long as patients’ conditions meet certain criteria. It’s restricted for tumors where you can go into them, which are tumors that are not extraordinarily hard, but there are quite a few tumors that are amenable to this treatment.

Lasers have revolutionized our ability to permanently reduce hair growth in fair-skinned individuals with dark hair. It’s very challenging for a practitioner to perform laser hair removal on someone with dark skin. That’s because the melanin pigment, on the surface of your skin or epidermis, absorbs light. So, before the laser light reaches beneath the epidermis to the real problem area, it is stolen by the melanin. The laser may also injure the skin. So, you must always go for a highly skilled practitioner. The first long-pulsed devices developed for laser hair removal (long-pulsed ruby and Alexandrian lasers) had limited efficacy in dark-skinned patients because the wavelengths were too well absorbed by cutaneous pigment or because the pulse durations were too short to spare epidermal pigment. This resulted in adverse effects like temporary hyper-pigmentation and permanent hypo-pigmentation.
Laser hair removal works best for people with dark hair and light skin. Few people realize that dark-skinned people may absorb too much laser energy into their skin and hence should not opt for this form of treatment as it can result in health problems later. Usually professionals will not even work on tanned skin. One must wait for the tan to fade off before getting such treatments. People with dark hair are easier to treat as dark hair -like dark skin- tends to absorb more laser energy. And coarse, dark hair is best-suited for this treatment. The lighter the color or the texture of the hair, the more difficult and lengthy the process of laser removal becomes. So, if you have dark skin tone with lighter hair, here are some of the instructions you need to follow.
1. Protect the skin’s surface by cooling it before using the laser. This could be done by using a contact cooling method and applying a chilled plate or a spray to your skin.
2. Talk and discuss the full procedure before you go for it. The doctor should be able to satify you that he is using the right laser with the right energy suiting you.
3. Use lasers with the longest wavelength of light. Skin with melanin will absorb short wavelengths, so the doctor needs to use a longer wavelength to get through the epidermis. The skin may still absorb the light, but not to the degree of short wavelengths.
4. Have at least three treatments for the best results. Your practitioner will set up your personal treatment plan. Apply a cold compress after treatment to soothe the bumps or redness that may appear.

Cosmetic surgery patients used to rely on Los Angeles liposuction alone to provide them with more desirable body contours. But in the past few months, the plastic surgeons at Marina Plastic Surgery Associates say that their patients have been requesting combination procedures that integrate other kinds of plastic surgery with liposuction. The surgeons attribute this shift to the convenience and value of customized approaches like Smartlipo™ laser liposuction. “Smartlipo works well as a standalone body contouring option, but it is also very effective when combined with traditional liposuction, a tummy tuck, or other cosmetic procedures.” More and more, our Los Angeles and Beverly Hills liposuction patients appreciate the added benefits and smooth results they can achieve with Smartlipo.”
Combining Smartlipo and traditional liposuction is already a popular choice at Marina Plastic Surgery, but increasingly Smartlipo is being added to breast reductions, tummy tucks, and other cosmetic surgery options. In fact, candidates for Beverly Hills laser liposuction often are having a breast augmentation, tummy tuck, or facelift to create maximum improvement with minimal downtime.
With the advent of Smartlipo laser lipolysis, surgeons are able to liquefy fat cells while tightening the inner layers of skin so that they contract to the slimmer body contour. This process can allow both the patient and the surgeon greater flexibility to adapt liposuction for combination procedures, at the same time as it helps speed up the surgical process and minimizes Los Angeles liposuction recovery times. “Each patient requires a unique approach,” notes Dr. Stoker. “Liposuction and abdominoplasty both require different approaches for a patient who has never had children, or for a patient who has had five. The procedure for their unique needs, appreciate having procedure options that allow them increased flexibility and a custom result. To a large extent, this is why Smartlipo is such a popular choice to add to other cosmetic procedures.”

Over the past three years there has been a drastic increase in the number of patients seeking laser treatments to take light-years off their faces, says a new American survey. According to American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS)’s annual Procedural Survey, there has been a 456pct increase in the number of males undergoing laser resurfacing, compared to 215pct in females.
Laser resurfacing is performed with a “super-pulsed” carbon dioxide (CO2) laser to minimize wrinkles and lines on the face. Laser hair removal has also jumped to the overall number two most performed non-invasive cosmetic procedure.
“Cosmetic surgery technology is advancing at the speed of light,” said AACS President Dr Patrick McMenamin.
As it is learning more about the cosmetic uses for lasers, the more patients benefit from effective results and quicker recovery time. It is an exciting time for both cosmetic surgery patients and physicians.
The top three most performed cosmetic surgical procedures in 2008 include liposuction, blepharoplasty and breast augmentation. The most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures were Botox(r) injections, laser hair removal and hyaluronic acid. (ANI)

Most typical methods available for removal of unwanted body hair are temporary, painful and messy. The best alternative to get rid of extra hair is laser hair removal. Being an easy, fast and comfortable process laser hair removal has grown very popular among men. One of the most frequent areas of concern for men that have unwanted hair is the back and shoulders. Unlike the beard and neck area that can be shaved by the individual, the back and shoulders present a particular problem.
If the person chooses to use the shaving method of removal then they need someone to shave the area for them. Some people have skin that is more prone to cuts and nicks than others. In additon many people suffer folliculitus or other skin irritations from shaving. Many other individuals may be more prone to getting painful and infected ingrown hairs from shaving. The chest and abdomen areas are among the most performed laser hair removal treatments for men.
