IPL, Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal Lasers are Extremely Safe for Treating all Skin Types

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

Innovation of IPL technology has enabled reaching new heights for
the safety and comfort of patients. Conventional lasers are best suited
only for light skin and dark hair but IPL systems promise to give
excellent results even with dark or tanned skin tones.

Normal laser devices emit single wavelengths of coherent light that
works for damaging hair follicles. While Intense Pulsed Light produces
hundreds of wavelenghts of consistent light to achieve the same task.
Using numerous wavelengths helps to remove hair effectively without the
need of high levels of power or energy fluence required by conventional
lasers. This also prevents patients from side effects like skin
discoloration and crusting.

If trained medical professionals use correct settings to perform
laser treatment, the laser hair removal procedure can be virtually
painless. IPL devices can eliminate using numbing cream prior to
treatment. Laser professionals also claim that any extreme pain during
treatment should be analyzed as some incorrect setting of the laser
device.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) FORT
LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Laser hair removal has become one of the
fastest-growing nonsurgical cosmetic procedures in recent years _
second only to Botox _ with more than 1.3 million performed in 2005.

In South Florida and across the country, numerous consumer
complaints have been filed, and injuries have been reported in rare
cases. The Florida Department of Health has received 226 complaints
involving laser hair removal since 1996, said Thometta Cozart, a
spokeswoman for the agency. State officials are reviewing a complaint
by Selen Adak, 24, of Highland Beach, that she has permanent scarring
on her leg as a result of burns suffered during treatment at American
Laser Centers in Boca Raton.

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration, which licenses
clinics and hospitals, does not license laser hair removal centers, nor
does it track any problems that might develop, said Toby Philpot, a
spokesman for the agency.

Many of the privileged individuals who are blessed with a perfect
physique might just not require any type of popular cosmetic surgical
procedures. They might not have any irregularities in their body
structure but there is one imperfection is existing even in the most

emerged as a gold standard among various ways to remove hair.

Lasers offer permanent hair removal solution for hair troubled
individuals. The technique works by emitting targeted light rays on the
melanin in hair follicles. Heat produced by light absorption destroys

witnessed. The process is a very fast treatment causing less discomfort
than any other popular lair removal processes. New techniques and
latest lasers make zapping unwanted hair a much easier task.

Rhinoplasy - The Surgery of Nose is a Popular Cosmetic Procedure among Men

Monday, August 28th, 2006

Men usually have different cosmetic expectations when undergoing a
cosmetic surgery. They contemplate only some correction over any weird
imperfection existing on the nose. An experienced physician prefers
retaining a small hump and does not change the nose shape drastically
when operating a male client. Since the male requirement is not to
achieve a perfect cute nose but they demand a more natural look with
the idiosyncrasies and masculinity of their nose preserved even after
surgery.

An ideal male nose has different measurements, angles and ratios
than a female nose. A plastic surgeon is expected to take into
consideration personal preferences, personality and also the existing
nose shape prior deciding on the course of action for rhinoplasty.

The plastic surgery should not change a man completely. The
individuality of the patient needs to be preserved. Rhinoplasty shall
result in almost the same man but with a better-shaped nose. And
understanding a patient’s desire helps achieve best client
satisfaction.

Practicing some Pre-Operative Preparation Facilitates Successful Cosmetic face lift Surgery

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

There are certain particular rules that need to be followed for
specific surgeries. Following and complying with these recommendations
is very beneficial for patients. Talking about a face lift operation
the patient must make sure that he does not consume any aspirin or
anti-inflammatory OTC medications prior to the treatment.

Smoking increases risk of complications during surgery hence one
must quit smoking for at least two weeks prior to and after the
process. If a person is residing single or even with a companion some
home adjustments should be made before leaving for the hospital so that
things are organized and readily available on return. Some freezed soft
food, a recovery area at home comprising of lots of pillows, books,
magazines, TV, lotion, baby wipes, mouthwash and some other necessary
products makes recovery easy.

Common medications like moisturizers, scar reducing creams,
laxatives (since pain medication usually induce binding), eye drops (as
eye can be dry post surgery) and some other prescription drugs advised
by the doctor must be kept ready near the patient. All these small
considerations help surgery to be a positive experience.

Rhytidectomy (face-lift) Requires Advance Planning and Preparation for Admirable Results

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

All cosmetic plastic surgeries require prior preparation and
planning to for best results with minimum discomfort. This aptly
applies to rhytidectomy procedure also. The process is commonly called
a face-lift treatment and being informed about the technicalities,
risks and other facts related to it is always advisable.

Before considering a facelift surgery one must check whether he is a
good candidate for it. A sagging skin on face with still some
elasticity remaining in it votes for a better candidature of
rhytidectomy. Maintaining an overall good health and an almost stable
weight during last six months goes in favor of a face lift procedure.
The patient is also expected to have a strong bone structure with
realistic expectations.

Any adverse medical history of diabetes, heart, lung or liver
disease, poor blood circulation or some genetic disorder increase the
risks involved in surgery. One is expected to thoroughly discuss their
physical condition with the medical practitioner prior to undergoing a
face lift surgery to achieve a positive experience.

Tumescent liposuction is an excellent way to get rid of excess fatty tissues in the body

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Tumescent liposuction involves injecting a medicated solution into
the fatty area. The solution is a mixture intravenous salt solution,
epinephrine – a drug that contracts blood vessels and lidocaine – a
local anesthetic. The amount of injected fluid is decided by the
physician and varies according to requirements. There can be large
volumes of fluid amounting to three times the fat required to be
removed or super wet liposuction where the fluid quantity equals the
extra fat or sometimes even lesser amount is used. This solution makes
fat tissues firm or tumesced, giving the process its name.

The swollen fat cells allow easy insertion of cannula within the
skin. This technique causes less pain, swelling and bruising. There is
less blood loss during the process, hence requirement for blood
transfusion is reduced. The injected liquid contains anesthetic
medicine so a separate anesthesia is not required. Tumescent
liposuction also results in fewer postoperative problems.
